Crew Campout was great

Monday, June 4th, 2007

This past weekend’s Crew camp out was great! Perfect weather, except for the rain Sunday. It did not interfere with our shooting program, but we did not get to do the repairs on the range we wanted to do. We may have to do a day trip soon to do the repairs. The new shotgun worked great for the youth by the way, and it was a breeze to clean. The Ruger .22’s on the other hand… You can see photos here. I still want Nikon to revise the Matrix Meter firmware on the D80 though.

The Perfect Shotgun

Well, the road trip was a success. It was a relatively small gun show. I may be spoiled because of the frequent large shows at the Dulles Expo Center though. But we did find the perfect ‘youth’ shotgun for the Crew. We even had Ashleigh with us to test the size and weight, so we know we’re good.

So hopefully the weather will be good this weekend for the Crew outing.

Busy Busy Busy

Its been a while since I wrote anything here. Since November, my main project has been forming a Venture Crew. After all the initial setup and early meetings, we’re up and running. You can see the Crew’s web site here. We have some scouts from the troop, but a lot of young men and women come from my son’s school (his classmates).

I’ve also been busy with the OA Chapter, and things have been steadily improving, or so everyone tells me. We even made Standard Chapter at the end of last year - an accomplishment we have not had in a while. So I must be doing something right.

The troop continues to move forward as well, even though we’re seriously hurting for new scouts. Our ‘feeder’ pack has been in a slump, and the Committee’s recruiting efforts have not been very fruitful. I expect next crossover season will be better though.

So, for now, back to scout business as usual. I’ll try to write more often.
