Now its done…

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Okay, now Phil’s project is officially done. He’s taken a small crew back to Big Mac to finish the cleanup, and its cleaned up. All he has left to do is get Big Mac to sign off and complete his Eagle application and he can put the last 7 odd years to rest and proudly say he is an Eagle Scout. How I envy him his accomplishment.

Now, off to Cabin Con III!!

Phil’s Eagle Project

Monday, August 20th, 2007

I’m proud to say that Phil’s Eagle Project is done! There are a few cleanup tasks left to do, but all project elements are complete. It was a loooong weekend at Big Mac, let me tell you. 10 hours on Saturday, 7 on Sunday. We did enough improvements to count for two projects :) Everything looks really nice. It will be a shame to take the Crew up there shooting now :)  But we’ve got a month to wait, so we’ll see how torn up it gets between now and then. You can see pictures here.

What’s been going on?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Well, since my last post, Phil has returned from his 3+ weeks at Goshen, Roundtable season has started back up, Phil’s Eagle project is this weekend, and planning is underway for Fall Ordeal. The Crew has been pretty active too, and Mike, Judi, and I are waiting for our TC credentials to be approved. Will post more about Phil’s Eagle project next week.

Backpacking trek

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Well, the backpacking trek was called short, and the crew returned yesterday afternoon. One of the two adults hamstring started going out, so they played it safe and returned to the cars before they got too deep into the trail. Back country rescues are no fun at all. Even better since the one thing I forgot to give them were the med forms. Ops.

Next year it looks like the want to do more of a base camp thing with lots of day hikes rather than packing their entire gear from location to location. We should be able to come up with something. And this time we’ll start doing more shakedown hikes in the months preceding it.
