Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. Was staff on this event this weekend. We had good weather and a great time. I think the students left with a lot of good info. I’ll have my actual journal entry up in a day or two.

Another successful OA election down. This one was weird, because I knew all these guys from my Pinewood Derby days. Nice to see they are still in Scouting though.

Finished our second OA election today. (This is where our OA guys go to another troop and conduct their OA elections.) It was pretty cool for me, because the SM for that troop was my Elangomat for my Ordeal. He also conducted the elections for our troop last year when I was elected. Boy Scout karma I guess.

Eagle COH

Today we held our first Eagle Court of Honor in about two years. This was my first COH as an adult leader of our Troop. We had a lot of guests attend! Goes to show just how popular a guy our new Eagle Scout is - and how worthy of the honor of Eagle his is.

Some observations for future Eagle COH events though. We need to get a better candle lighting tool so we don’t have the speaker get out of sync with the candle lighting. We should also have someone other than the COH coordinator review the guest list so we don’t forget anyone important (ops…).

We conducted our first OA election (for Troop 1515) tonight. Due to a scout communications snafu it was only me and Phil. But the elections went fine nevertheless. Interesting experience. I like visiting other troops and watching how they do things. Almost makes me want to be a Unit Commissioner. Almost…
