Its always amazed me how fast a year seems to fly by - once you get to the end of it. In January December always seems so far away. Then December is here and you wonder where did the year go, what did I get accomplished, will I have time to do everything next year? 2008 was a pretty good year as far as Scouting goes. 2009 looks to hold a few promising moments, both for me personally and as far as my District and Council obligations go.

While I’m not much into New Year’s Resolutions, I will try to write here more often than I have been this year.

In case I don’t get to before the year ends, I hope you all have a happy holiday season, and a fun and safe New Year!

but things get busy. What’s been happening since August? Well…

Phil went off to Basic Training. He should be finishing up around Election week if I got my dates straight. He’s doing well. Then its off to AIT for another few months. Its been weird not having him around, and when he gets back it will be even weirder I’m sure.

We’ve been on a few good Crew campouts. Nothing spectacular, but Big Mac is always fun. Speaking of Big Mac, Judi and I are now Board Members! Don’t know yet if that’s a blessing or a curse :) Fun group of folks though, so I’m sure in the long run it will be well worth the extra blood and sweat.

I missed my first Camporee in I don’t know how long. It was Alex’s birthday weekend (birthday was on a Friday), and while Sue can forgive me for missing our Anniversary for Camporee (still don’t know how that happens) Alex can’t. So while I hear Camporee was a huge success, so was my weekend with Ali.

We had an Ordeal at Camp Snyder this Fall; our first there. Interesting experince. Not sure I would do it again - we’d have to plan dates carefully to be sure we don’t run into the problems we did with the general public.

The NRA finally passed Judi and I on our TCs! And I just finished my PPOH Instructor training! Now if I could only retire and teach classes full time :)

I’m sure there is more that could be said, but I’ll pass on that for right now. Upcoming events include Scouting for Food weekend(s) and a Crew lock-in. That should be fun.

Phil and I completed our Vigil this past weekend. Phil was going to pass and do the make up date next weekend, but Judi talked him into doing it this past weekend. It was all very cool. Phil’s Vigil name is Pintschihillachton Mbi Tindey, and mine is Machque Nachpi Paiachichikan.

Well, that was a fun week. Didn’t get as many classes run, but we made a LOT of progress for next year. And then of course there was the whole e-coli thing. So now, Goshen shut down for week 6. Phil is due back this Friday, maybe in time for Vigil. So, now off to planning for next summer!
